Revere City Councilor at-Large Juan Jaramillo and Revere Ward One City Councilor Joanne McKenna endorse Attorney Allison Cartwright for Clerk of the Supreme Judicial Court in Suffolk County

May 22, 2024 - Revere City Councilors Juan Jaramillo and Joanne McKenna both announced their endorsements of Allison Cartwright for Clerk of the Supreme Judicial Court in Suffolk County today. 

"I am proud to stand by and endorse Allison Cartwright for the position of Clerk of the Supreme Judicial Court,” said Revere City Councilor at-Large Juan Jaramillo. “The SJC Clerk must have the experience and the track record of intentional decision making that improves the material well being of working people. As the second largest city in Suffolk County, our residents deserve a judicial system that upholds our values and legacy as a working class city. In her legal experience, Allison has centered working people, who are the most historically marginalized, and our communities as a whole. That is why I am with her. Allison's passion and experience upholding the law while nurturing equity in the judicial system is exactly the type of leadership needed in the Supreme Judicial Court Clerk position."

The Councilors join a growing coalition of support for Allison Cartwright’s campaign from across Suffolk County, including Attorney General Andrea Campbell, State Senators Lydia Edwards, Liz Miranda, Will Brownsberger, and Jamie Eldridge, Boston City Councilor Liz Breadon, Revere City Councilor at-Large Marc Silvestri, Chelsea City Councilor at-Large Roberto Jimenez-Rivera, Winthrop Town Council Vice President Hannah Belcher, and the United Auto Workers Region 9A.

Allison Cartwright has over 30 years of legal experience and currently serves in the Committee for Public Counsel Services’s Public Defenders Division, where she oversees seventy-five public defenders, social workers, and investigators for Suffolk and Norfolk counties. She works daily to ensure that staff have the tools necessary to provide top-notch defense, necessary services, and are able to protect fundamental constitutional and human rights. Over the course of her career, she has been appointed to and served on a number of boards, including Boston’s Police Reform Task Force, the Massachusetts Advisory Board on Probation, and the Governor's Restorative Justice Advisory Committee.
