Senator Will Brownsberger endorses Attorney Allison Cartwright for Clerk of the Supreme Judicial Court
May 2, 2024 - Today State Senator Will Brownsberger is announcing his endorsement of Attorney Allison Cartwright for the Clerk of the Supreme Judicial Court, joining fellow State Senators Lydia Edwards and Liz Miranda, as well as Boston City Councilor Liz Breadon, Revere City Councilor at-Large Marc Silvestri, Winthrop Town Council Vice President Hannah Belcher, and Chelsea City Councilor at-Large Roberto Jiménez-Rivera.
"The Clerk of the Supreme Judicial Court in Suffolk County is an important statewide office — administering the highest court in the state," said State Senator Will Brownsberger. "Allison Cartwright is an experienced trial attorney and public manager, making her supremely qualified for this position. She is widely liked and respected by her professional colleagues, wants to bring her high professional standards to the role of Clerk of the Supreme Judicial Court, and is running for the right reasons. She can win with the statewide support of people who care about the administration of justice, and I am proud to give her my endorsement.”

Allison Cartwright has over 30 years of legal experience and currently serves in the Committee for Public Counsel Services’s Public Defenders Division, where she oversees seventy-five public defenders, social workers, and investigators for Suffolk and Norfolk counties. She works daily to ensure that staff have the tools necessary to provide top-notch defense, necessary services, and are able to protect fundamental constitutional and human rights. Over the course of her career, she has been appointed to and served on a number of boards, including Boston’s Police Reform Task Force, the Massachusetts Advisory Board on Probation, and the Governor's Restorative Justice Advisory Committee.
